can we really change the past?

Can we change the future? I say yes and no. Can we change the past? I say no!!!

Remember Miss Hawking when she was talking to Desmond…she told Desmond about the guy in red shoes and she said something like whatever is supposed to happen will happen and even if the man is saved from death universe would course correct to ensure he dies. This applied to Charlie. Desmond saw what was supposed to happen and saved Charlie many different times. However because it was supposed to happen it happened. Even if Charlie didn't choose to die a hero’s death and hadn’t believed Desmond he would still die a while later. Desmond could see the future that was supposed to happen. As if the universe according to what we do in the present time lays out a short term plan for us with a certain objective. This objective is to be fulfilled. If our present actions changed the circumstances the universe would change its plan for us to ensure that the same objective is still achieved. In other words the objective of the universe is to fulfil the individual objectives it has for each of us through whatever means possible. So we can change the future but then the universe would still achieve what it plans for us only in a different way.

Locke told Jack they are not supposed to leave. We know now that this is because they were present in the past of the island. So whatever happened in the future they would end up in that point in past and live the life they have lived in the past. The difference is that our losties don’t know yet what has happened in the past because in their biological time line it is their future although in past. Now that Desmond’s action postponed Charlie’s death and Charlie cracked the code in the glass station and the O6 left the island, universe would do anything to ensure they are back there to avoid paradox. People like Ben and Miss Hawking know that but they want to make sure that universe doesn't choose a harsh method to do this. So they did their parts in convincing the O6 to go back. Even Widmore who is against Ben knows this and helps in this objective.

Now since one can travel back in time on the island paradoxes can happen. If for example Dharma guys believed Saiid and found out about the purge and tried to avoid it, it would still happen. The catch is that Saiid telling the Dharma at point A, Dharma believing him at point B and trying things to stop the purge at point C always happened and always purge could not be avoided at point D. This is different from the case about Desmond and universe changing its plans towards a certain objective. In past whatever happened, happened. If saiid decided to kill Ben this is what always happened and if he killed Ben it is what always happened too. But saiid decided to kill Ben because he knew of future Ben so there must be a future Ben. Two ways this is possible either Ben doesn't die or that he gets reincarnated. I tend to go with the later and I explain why.

Ben is a liar and we all know that! But something always bothered me …. He said he was born on the island. We know Ethen was but not Ben!! Somehow I always thought it is as if the others also think/knew he has been born on the island and this bothered me. Was he conning them? Maybe! But now I tend to think differently.

I think Ben was truthful for once and he was indeed born on the island. Not born from a mother but born as in being reincarnated after dying. Saiid is a professional killer. How can he miss the vital point? Little Ben must be dead being shot from that range. We all remember the van he was driving in the little prince episode with words reincarnated on it. We thought this related to Locke and it did. But maybe it also related to Ben.

Reincarnation is another funny way of course correction by the universe. Locke was incarnated because at some point he has to exist in the past on the island and Ben was reincarnated because his presence on the island in the future could only be a cause for Saiid to kill him.

That's the time line for Locke and Widmore only. Sorry couldn't do any better! I hope I've made it clear enough.

Richard is not ageless - Locke is the reason!

After seeing the third episode and Richard’s reaction to what Locke was saying about him being from the future, I thought maybe Richard didn’t know about time ravelling. He looked surprised as did Ellie. Now 50 years later, Richard and Ellie (if she is indeed Miss Hawking) and others know about time travelling. Could it be that they know about it because Locke appeared to Richard 50 years before and told him about time travelling? Richard waited 2 years to see john being born and then another few years to test him and he passed the test. Richard was not angry at Locke because he failed the test. He was more agitated because of his finding. Because Locke was always a hunter in the future and he chose the knife. Not the compass that belongs to Richard and not the Book of Laws. The test confirmed time travel. It wasn't to see if Locke is their future leader. Future can’t be changed. If Richard told Locke he is the leader he told him he IS the leader no matter if Locke passes or fails a leadership test. The test was to verify if Locke was indeed someone who travelled in time to the past in his future.

Maybe after this Richard found out about time travel and used it to travel to the future. This means that Richard is not ageless. He was on the island in his true age 50 years back but then he travelled to the future after his encounter with Locke and after he found out about time travelling (maybe another encounter in which Locke tells him how to travel to the future). So Richard first travels to the time that Ben the kid sees him and recruits Ben. Then travels to the time when Dharma is to be purged and after that he stays with Ben and sometimes travels outside of the island or back to past to do things the way they should happen. Widmore and Ellie (if Miss Hawking) age normally because they live their lives to the future with no travelling involved. Miss Hawking becomes the time police to ensure that the little allowed tweaks to the time do not create chain of unwanted events that are necessary for the universe to set itself on the correct course. Widmore either wants to destroy the island because he thinks such island and such power should not exist or wants the power of time travelling to gain even more power.

p.s. Juliet’s remark about Alpert being very old is due to her not knowing about this and only knowing that Richard has had been the leader of the others before Ben.

How the island was moved

This theory was written before season 5 airing but still holds mostly!! :)

Dark Energy:
The universe is expanding in an accelerated rate. So there needs to be a kind of force that does this. This force needs to be in the opposite direction of the gravitational force. This is what we call dark Energy or vacuum energy density. This is the energy that exists in a unit volume of the vacuum of space.

Where does this energy come from?
This energy is coming from the fact that vacuum space is filled with the same number of matters and anti-matters that constantly cancel each other out by constant annihilation and recreation.

How does it relate with the Casimir effect?
Well, Casimir effect is the attractiveness of two plates of metal when put very close together in a vacuum. This attractiveness results from the fact that there is a dark energy in the vacuum space. Basically, this dark energy becomes negative inside the vacuum in between the two plates of metal and the force that it creates can be used to stabilize a wormhole. This would allow space and time travel through the wormhole. To create Casimir effect however a very very large amount of energy is needed. (The electromagnetic energy of the island perhaps?)

Not quite a Casimir force:
In the orientation video Dr Marvin Candle refers to a force as a "kind of" Casimir Effect. A sort of.....meaning it does the same kind of thing but in a different way? I think I have an idea what this could be.

Space-time bubble:
According to some new scientists one could travel in space and time with speed more than the speed of light in a bubble of space-time. (Remember the bubble in Hurley’s book?)

How?
In basic terms the dark energy bends space-time and that’s how we get ripples in space. Now if this energy is manipulated such that at one point in space-time it is negative and at another point in space-time it is positive then a space-time bubble is created. A spaceship inside this space-time bubble can then travel in space-time with speed higher that the speed of light. It is analogy to wave surfing. The surfer doesn’t move, it is the wave, the curvature on the surface of the sea that moves him. So although a move in space-time with higher speed than light has happened but because the spaceship itself hasn’t moved inside the space-time bubble, the laws of physics have not been broken.

I believe the island is put in such bubble when it is moved in space time. The bubble gets created by the turn of the donkey wheel for a fraction of time. This is enough to put the island somewhere else and even in a different time, future or past.

Energy:
To move an object we need to apply energy. The amount of energy applied depends on the mass of the object. This also applies when creating a space-time bubble. The bubble is only created when enough energy has been applied to the space and time axis. The more energy is applied the bigger the bubble would be. Furthermore, if there is enough energy, the curvature of the space axis and the time axis of the bubble could also be pre-defined. This is by direct manipulation of THE dark energy in the space and time axis of the bubble.

Island’s Energy:
As we all know there is a big magnetic energy in the island. Where does this energy come from? Is it solely a property of the island or is it due to the location of the island? I tend to believe the latest and I explain why.

Vile Vortices:
No this is not the famous vile vortices theory!
As you most probably know there are twelve Bermuda-like vortices around the globe. I believe these vortices are involved in Lost because of all the hints given to us. E.g. Amelia Earhart (Find815), the numbers (coordinates that end up in the Devil’s Triangle I read somewhere), hints to Fiji and Sahara (two of the vortices), the way Juliet was brought on the island, and the hints to the Poles such as Hurley’s drawings and Polar Bears (another two of the vortices).

How does it apply to our Lost Island?
Surely the island cannot just move in space randomly, otherwise it could end up anywhere in space. On top of the London Eye for example! So it should have a certain number of places that it could only go to.
Furthermore, in the world of Lost, each of the 12 vile vortices could have enough magnetic energy to create a space-bubble that is big enough to move an island. Now, if the energy to move the island comes from the Vile Vortices, then the island will lose its time-space travel properties if it is moved to a random place.
Some scientists believe the Vortices are connected to each other via electromagnetic 'grid lines' and I believe that these are being used to ensure the space-time bubble created has a curtain amount of space curvature such that it places the island in one of these vortices only. Remember when Ben appeared in Tunisia he was wearing a Polar jacket? I believe it was in case the vortex he travels to is one of the Poles.

(Please bear in mind that even if this is the case in Lost, the show does not need to explain it fully. It would probably be something like this: the island moves in space-time to one of the Bermuda-like triangle on the globe, using their magnetic energy to do so.)

The wheel:
I think that the island has a mechanism to sit on top of the magnetic field of the Vile Vortices and utilize their energy. Basically, the wheel is a mechanism to turn this enormous power on and off. When island sits on top of the field it shuts the field to some extend just like a thumb stuck in a leaking hole. This leaves only enough energy to make it possible for a small bubble just as big as a submarine to be created. When wheel is turned the thumb is taken out of the hole and the force creates a big bubble that wraps around the island.

Moving in time:
This is a space-time bubble so it could also involve a travel in time. If there is enough energy available then the amount of curvature of the time axis could be specified and this means that one could decide how much back or forward in time s/he wanted to travel. Remember Richard... He travels freely in and out of the island. Every time he goes back to the island he must know what year he wants to go to. He is able to travel by submarine from the vortex near the coast of Florida to the exact place and time of the island because there is enough energy to do so.

What is the side effect of moving an object as big as the island?
Basically, there needs to be a massive amount of energy to create a big enough bubble let alone manipulating its time axis. I believe that there just isn’t enough energy to do all that and therefore when island moves it could end up anywhere in the time axis.

Why Ben cannot go back to the island?
It is not the case that Ben does not know where to look for the island (there are only 12 choices) but that he doesn’t know in which time frame he should look for it. Ben got engulfed in a separate bubble when he turned the wheel. A bubble with a set time curvature (set to the present time). He doesn’t have a clue how to go back

Until…
Locke leaves the island. Locke’s bubble’s curvature was set to the present time. Locke came to convince the O6 to go back to the island (for whatever reason) but he got disappointed and killed himself. But before doing that he got to talk to Ben. He told Ben about the things that had happened after the island had moved and I believe that gave Ben a clue as to the time frame that the island could be in. That’s why Ben told jack that he might have a few ideas. I think Ben will take the O6 to one of the vortices, Sets the time curvature to what he now thinks the island might be in, and off they go to the island.

This is the power of the island explained scientifically!

A theory on origins

I know you have heard of many Atlantis and Mu related theories but hopefully this one is different.

Atlantis and Mu two islands that sank in a day/night due to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, with many similarities but different supposed locations: Atlantis in Atlantic Ocean and Mu in South Pacific.

Information about Mu was first found in the translation of some Maya ruins. Some translation reads: “The country of the Hills of Mud, The Land of Mu, was sacrificed. Being twice upheaved it disappeared during the night, being continually shaken by fires of the under earth. Being confined these caused the land to sink and to rise several times and in various places. At least the surface gave way, and then ten countries were torn asunder and were scattered. They sank with their 64 million of eight thousand years.” According to Plato, Atlantis had also 10 kingdoms, equivalent to the 10 lands of Mu. Also, both Mu and Atlantis are said to had been “sacrificed” to force people into a better way of living.

The first part of my theory is that in the world of Lost, the island is both Atlantis and Mu and in fact any other lost islands for which there are written or mythical records. The unique property of the island to change space/time coordinates allows for this to be the case. There are evidence in the show regarding the Island being Atlantis and Mu:
Super powers: people of Atlantis and Mu are said to have had been highly evolved with powers included teleportation and astral projection, ability to not age, and oracles predicting the future.

4 toed statue: the statue was first supposed to have 6 toes. So the only important thing is the emphasis on being different. Atlantis and Mu people were thought to be different to others in appearance and more evolved.

Volcanic islands.

In Atlantis and Mu, society was divided into two: good and evil.

Egyptian hieroglyphics on the island: It is said that survivors of Mu founded the great civilisations on the Earth and that’s why Mayan civilisation and that of Egypt for example looks very similar (both had pyramids, same burial practices, etc).

Underground passages: Mayans believed in a mythical underworld (Xibalba) with underground paths leading into it. Some underground passageways have been found in Mexico. It is said that in Atlantis and Mu there has been underground passageways to move around the island.

Adam and Eve: Some people call Mu and some Atlantis (in our case both the same) the location of Eden.

Oz reference: When Mu sank some people believe that the mountain peaks became the isle of Lemuria. Lemuria is also called Oz.

North pole reference: Legend says that inhabitants of Atlantis were originally from north Pole.

Magnetic reference: ยต represents the magnetic permeability in physics. Atlantians also had ships and aircrafts powered by magnetic crystal energy.

Religious reference: Mu is said to be the original civilisation where all religions began.

One question for me here was that if the island is Mu/Atlantis then why is it so small in size. Mu was as big as a small continent. The answer for me was that every time the island moves not all of it merges out of the water. How much it is inside the water depends on how deep the ocean is where the island moves. The temple is the highest point of the island and somewhere that is always above the water. Our losties island and that of the others are basically the two high hills of the Mu continent. This explains why the 4 toed statue was next to the coast rather that a high place where most could see, or why the Black Rock was in the middle of the jungle. This also explains why both islands (that of the losties and others) disappeared together with the turn of the donkey wheel. They were connected as they were part of the same bigger island, half submerged.

Also the line in the Ajira airways site about the Polynasian civilisation made me think that the island should have had been in polynasia during the polynasian migrations. This made me stumble across two really interesting polynasian myths. Polynasians believe people’s sin can sink an island. Also they have another myth about Maui, a fisherman who fished up an island. Myths are sometimes made up because people can not explain what they observe. Imagine a 21st century chopper goes back 1000s of years in time. People in the past see this huge thing and see the pilot waving at them. Here a myth would be created of a god riding the wind in a chariot of iron, blowing things away. I believe in the world of Lost, the island could have moved in space and pop up when Mr Maui was fishing. Hehe (Well this part is not necessary to be right or even explained but I found it interesting!)

So, as I said we make myths when we don’t understand something. In 21st century we don’t make such myths as before but when we see Smokey we talk about aliens because we cannot explain it with today’s technology. Island’s disappearance suggests a move in space and time. So if the island in 2004 can for example end up say 200 years back, then it can take people with knowledge of relativity theory with it to the time that not much knowledge of the universe existed.
Now say the island that the losties crashed on was also there because of a movement back in time. Say the island existed in the future and had to be moved to year 2004 (i.e. we are people of the past). now what cool technologies would people of the future have? They could project light to the back of your retina to make you see visions! They could make a security system that can photograph mind like Smokey!

And lastly just wanted to confirm that if the Mu/Atlantis connection is right so would be the theories about the end of the world. Valentzi equation predicts the factors that if changed could change the fate of humanity. These numbers have still not been changed. Dharma failed to change those numbers by means of manipulating the environment. The last resort was to manipulate human subjects to start a chain of events that could cause the core values to change. And these would be our losties.

I don’t want to make this any longer so I stopped right here!!!
